The entire first grade at Cheatham Elementary School held a Thank You Assembly to honor the David Glasser Foundation for providing backpacks and supplies at the beginning of the year.
Representatives from the foundation, Phoenix Police officers and David Glasser’s family were invited to the assembly where the students provided hand-written thank you notes and a song of appreciation. A plaque was also presented on behalf of the entire school.
Glasser’s widow, Kristen, spoke to the children about how her husband cared about the people who live in Laveen and how he wanted the children to have a safe place to play and grow up.
Officer Glasser was killed in the line of duty last year while responding to a burglary call in the Cheatham neighborhood. The Foundation named in his honor has developed a partnership with Cheatham Elementary.
