Cheatham’s Academic Pentathlon team took 2nd Place at the recent state competition. Academic Pentathlon is a scholastic competition consisting of five events in the areas of literature, mathematics, fine arts, science, and social science. This year’s theme was “Africa.” All competitions were done online. Members of the Pentathlon team include Kailee Clanton, Nicole Nitura, Brian Herald, Tyra Lovato, Ashorena Hermiz, Shaktie Castellanos, Jocelyn Ontiveros, and Alexa Mendoza. Fifth grade teacher Mark Shepard is the team coach.
Several students also received individual awards in their divisions. Kailee Clanton and Nicole Nitura earned Gold Medals and Brian Herald received a Bronze Medal.
